Derby Goodness

Yeah Roller Derby last night! I wasn’t in it but damn do I feel broken this morning. I can only imagine how they feel.

So um, the new lens rocks!

No editing so far.
20D: f1.4, shutter 1/100, iso800, WB Tungsten

It’s supposed to thunderstorm today, so it looks like a movie day. As much as I want to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory we have yet to see War of the Worlds which G really wants to see. So yeah, I’m guessing that’s this afternoon if it rains.

Tonight, Contempt!

I love having such talented photographers on my friend's list! [info]kzeromancer does some very cool stuff too, she needs to hook up with a record label because I could see bands using her stuff for cover art.

I really love the lighting in this shot...it's very flattering :)
What lens did you get?

I'm dying to see both those movies as well and I'm going to have to make an effort to see them before they are released on DVD.

Storm clouds here too (as per the past few months!) but it's supposed to be sunny this afternoon. We'll see....

The new Sigma 30mm 1.4 that was just released. It's made specifically for digital cameras. The lens shape on this is not the same as a traditional 30mm. It's designed to prevent bowing.

I've heard good things about Sigma lenses...and especially as of late. Actually another LJ friend of my [info]defunked uses them with her Nikon D100 and is quite happy with the results. Speaking of which you may want to check out her journal, I think you'd really like her work.

Thanks for the recommendation. I love checking out other photogs on here.

I've heard really mixed things about the Sigmas. I've heard that they're not the best at quality control so you can have batches of off lenses. But they're good at replacing them.

You're welcome :)

I've heard the same thing as well, which is why I haven't gone that route yet. I'm still saving for Nikkor lenses. I may get fed up with the waiting process of saving and not having and break down and try Sigma. We'll see...

Yeah, the only reason why I got this one was because there is no Canon equivalent. Not complaining though. My initial results are coming out with it being a pretty damn good lens.

Ooooooooooohhhh! Nice! Was she moving at all? Regardless..... I'm jealous. :)

War of the Worlds = Dakota Fanning's acting pwning the entire world and an invading alien army.

No, she was standing still. I do have a few that did come out from people moving. Will post eventually over in [info]shatteredlens. Still sorting through.
